It's either one of these:

The birth of a star
The death of a star
Aliens trying to get contact like what we're doing.

It's basically a star that's flashing. This also brings up the big bang theory. It'll make it harder to prove because it's very difficult to say how those particles got out there that far away.

P.S. Laughing the "scientists" made a mistake.
