This year marks the sixth time that the anime fair has been held. Some 270 exhibitors, including anime production companies, DVD marketing firms and technical schools are taking part in this year's fair -- the largest number to date.

In addition a car from the popular anime "Lupin III" is on display.

The fair, which is being held at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition venue, will run until Sunday, with general admission opening on Saturday.

After general admission begins, voice actors for new anime such as "Love Complex," "Skull Man" and "Hayate the Combat Butler" will make a live appearance on stage, as live anime songs are presented.

The general admission fee is 1,000 yen. The fee for junior high and high school students is 500 yen. Entry for children of elementary school age or under, those aged 65 and over, and disabled guests and their caregivers is free.
